Dietrich Bonhoeffer: We have no defense against stupidity
Plot
As the world teeters on the brink of destruction, Dietrich Bonhoeffer joins a deadly plot to assassinate Hitler, risking his faith and fate to save millions of Jews from genocide. Niemoeller actor August Diehl previously played an SS Gestapo officer in Nemilosrdni gadovi (2009) and a German citizen who resisted enlistment in the German Army in Writing Life (2019).
Reasoning is pointless
Neither protest nor force can touch it. Facts that contradict personal prejudices can simply be disbelieved – indeed, a fool can oppose them by criticizing them, and if they are undeniable, they can simply be dismissed as trivial exceptions.
The passion and determination of B and the professing church are well explained
I really liked the flashback model, the cast was well chosen, the film moved well. I really liked the portrayal of B’s relationship with his brother Walter and the depth of family ties and love.
Well done above all
Since the focus was on the situation of the Jewish people under Hitler, I was surprised that there was no mention of B’s twin sister marrying a Jew and moving to England. I shed tears and regret that one day I will not be as brave as B when faced with such choices.
I recommend it
Thank you for producing this film.
